Persian geometric rug featuring triple medallions on a camel brown field.

    Description

Brash cheerful Persian geometric rug featuring triple medallions on a camel brown field. The brown appears to be natural undyed wool and it may be camel’s wool, which is often used instead of sheep’s wool for browns.

Overall excellent condition with minor wear. The wool is woven onto cotton warp and weft. A Luri tribal rug from west central Iran. The Luri are affiliated linguistically and culturally with the Bakhtiari people. Some of their motifs are similar to the Bakhtiari but they also show the influence of the Qashqai and Khamseh confederations in their textiles and rugs.

Two black animal icons–probably lions– on the opposite corners. Two woven dates, one has the numbers reversed, are crafted into the opposite corners. The correct one is 1346 in the Persian calendar, which dates this rug to 1967 in the Gregorian calendar. So this rug is 48 years old and looking great for the age!

Fairly thick wool but not especially dense or heavy. With a simple mesh pad to help keep it in place, this could be used in an active foot traffic area although not ideal for a concourse.

Shipping is $55 within the U.S. (I use FedEx unless you prefer another carrier. There is always a tracking number for each rug shipment.)

Moving SALE! — I need to move my whole collection soon so I’d rather sell them than have to move them! All reasonable best offers considered!
