Description

Vivid and cheerful vintage geometric Hamadan village runner in very good overall condition.

Almost no signs of wear on the wool pile; the side cords and fringes are also in very good shape.

There is some bluish dye pickup in the upper left hand side and corner.

The carpet features a unidirectional tapestry of birds, deer, trees, and flowers on a red field. The border is primarily a dark blue.

Some abrash in the red (abrash is color variegation due to changes in the wool dye batches).

The rug is solid and can be used in a high foot traffic area of the home. On a slippery floor a simply rug pad can help keep runners and small rugs in place.

This is a traditional village carpet woven by tribal weavers in central Iran, using local wool.

Mesmerizing art for your floor!

Exact size is 9 ft. 3 in. by 3 ft. 7 in. Natural wool on natural cotton. 1960s – 1970s. Thick wool pile.

Last photo with Morgan silver dollar shows the backside.

The Hamedan District is in north central Iran and produces a rich tapestry of rugs and carpets from several hundred villages. Most of these village rugs, typically woven in a home, are rendered as runners and small rugs.

Shipping will be $43 within the continental U.S. Or you can arrange for free pickup, too.

Please email me with questions. I can send closeup photos of the bluish dye bleed area on request. It’s not bad and this is a fabulous rug if you like birds and animals.

Thank you.
