Very old vintage full pile Persian Malayer carpet with subtle colors including muted orange, blue, cream, green, salmon.
The design is a traditional Herati motif on a light field with stylized flowers in the border.
The rug displays quite a bit of village abrash (variegation in color due to changes in wool dye batches) in the field colors. Abrash creates a painterly effect, breaking up monochromatic tones.
Condition is very good with minor wear on the wool pile. The side cords and fringes are in good shape. Some yellowing of the cotton in the fringes from normal aging. Some mottling of the colors and might benefit from a wash although not dusty or notably dirty. No odors.
Natural wool on natural cotton. 1950s.
Exact size is 11 ft. by 3 ft. 8 in.
Last photo with Morgan silver dollar shows the backside of the carpet.
Shipping will be $34 within the continental U.S. I might be able to offer a lower shipping price to buyers in nearby locales. Arranging a free pickup is a possible option, too.
