    Traditional antique Persian village rug!

    Description

Antique Kurdish medallion rug from Iran with highly saturated colors, including indigo blue, green, light blue, orange, and several reds.

Some wear on the wool pile with a few low spots where weft knots are visible.  Despite the moderate wear, the rug is very solid and can be used anywhere, including near an entrance.

Fringes are in good shape for the age but with some uneven wear. Slight yellowing of the cotton fringes in a few areas from natural aging of the cellulose; and slight pinkish color pickup in one corner from the wash.

Recently washed — maybe for the first time in 80-years as plenty of grit and dust were removed. The carpet came out of a European estate.

The rug has been professionally end-stopped to protect from weft unraveling. See the last photo of the back of the rug.

Natural wool on cotton warp. 1930s.

Mainly natural dyes with the possible exception of one old bold red that bleed slightly into a corner of the cotton fringe during the washing.

Phantasmagoric mystic tribal art for your floor!

Considering the age, the condition is very good. No holes or weak spots, and the colors, both organic and the bold red, are still rich and vibrant. Fairly thick wool.

Probably woven in a Kurdish village in the Hamadan district of Iran.

Exact size is 6 ft. 9 in. by 3 ft. 6 in.

Shipping is $34 within continental U.S. or free pickup in Tucson, Arizona
