Dramatic large handmade bucolic pictorial rug with a tan field color.
The pictorial scene, woven unidirectional like a huge tapestry, displays some happy animals such as white lions, goats and deer — and some less fortunate creatures under attack from hunting lions.
Horsemen on horseback appear to be carrying bunches of flowers on one hand. Wide ivory borders with resting animals.
Great condition with only a hint of wear.
A Persian tribal style carpet in a rare large size.
Not Persian in origin but wonderfully crafted. Handwoven in India based on Persian rug traditions crafted in cities such as Tabriz and Qom.
Very difficult to find these large tribal style pictorial rugs at this generous size. Overall, an enchanting and fascinating area carpet.
Wool woven onto cotton warp and weft. The rug is very solid and can be placed in an area of high foot traffic.
Exact size is 10 ft. 2 in. by 8 ft.
