Huge traditional tribal style Afghani kelim woven by hand on a loom.
Excellent condition with only a couple of tiny 1-inch repairs on one end.
This is woven with a traditional tribal diamond motif in old style earth-tone colors. Woven from natural wool and cotton. This is of fairly recent vintage and may have been woven in Pakistan.
It is similar in design to traditional Afghani kilims from around Maimana but a different weave and uses cotton for the structure.
This is a flat-weave textile, and much thinner than a typical pile rug.
It would be ideal for covering and decorating a hard floor, and could be used for yoga, a children’s play mat, or quietly sitting and sipping tea.
Kilims are favored by nomadic tribal people because they are easier to fold and carry than pile rugs. They are placed on the ground and used to sit on, eat, and drink tea.
The exact size is 13 ft. by 10 ft. 3 in.
Natural wool and cotton.
Shipping will be $43 within the continental U.S. Or free pickup in Tucson Arizona.
