Striking traditional geometric rug from the Sirjan region of Iran. Woven by the Afshari tribe.
The Afshar weavers have been creating an eye-catching version of this motif going back at least into the 19th century. This one features a white and blue medallion motif on a crimson field. Tree-of-life designs run along the sides of the carpet.
VERY THICK WOOL PILE.
Excellent condition with almost no signs of pile wear. Side cords and fringes are in fine shape. There was a few spots of very light color pickup in a bit of the white from when the rug was washed.
Wool woven onto cotton warp and weft. The rug is solid and can be placed in an area of high foot traffic.
Exact size is 7 ft. 9 in. by 5 ft. 7 in.
Last photo with Morgan silver dollar shows the backside of the rug.
Shipping will be $55 within the continental U.S. as it’s quite a heavy rug for its size.
