Vintage tribal gabbeh rug woven in traditional beige and brown colors using a mix of dyed and un-dyed wools.
Very good overall condition with only minimal wear. Possibly some faint color pickup in a pair of medallions from a village wash. No holes or weak areas; the rug is very solid.
Woven by the Qashqai of southwest Iran in the Zagros Mountains.
There are lots of copies of gabbeh rugs available from Nepal and India, but this is a real old Persian one.

Gabbeh rugs were woven by the Qashqai and related Persian tribal groups for local use. They generally have simplified field designs and basic color palettes, and were often used as sleeping rugs.
Gabbeh rugs are now one of the most popular and widely copied of all the Persian tribal rug motifs.
