Description
Mesmerizing Persian tribal animal rug. Mint condition. The primary field color on the rug is a bit darker and more in the burgundy range then it appears in the photos.
The motif and colors are classic for the Kelardasht region of Northern Iran, just south of the Caspian Sea. The wool pile is cut a little shorter than most Kelardasht carpets, probably to showcase the pictorial design. Interestingly, the rug displays some shared geometric elements with the rugs of the Viss area but uses a totally different color palette.
The rug is in mint condition and shows no signs of wear. Out of my personal collection and I’ve never used it on the floor. 1970s.
Exact size is 9 ft. 6 in. by 7 ft. Natural wool pile on natural cotton warp & weft.
Shipping is $69 within the U.S. as it’s a fairly heavy and bulky rug.
