Traditional tribal rug from the Zagros Mountains of Southwest Iran.
The carpet displays a triple medallion motif with numerous peacock and bird icons.
Rug is in excellent condition. Very minor wear on a small area of the interior and a couple of tiny food spill spots. CU photos provided of the tiny spots.
Wonderful supple rug — traditional nomad style Persian tribal rug.
Navy blues, reds, orange, sky blue and whites are the primary colors. 1960s vintage carpet. Out of a European estate.
Woven from 100% natural wool — including the warp and weft, which is typical for Khamseh tribal pieces. As these were nomadic people who raised sheep, not farmers who grew cotton, they used their own locally produced natural wool. That tradition generally continues.

The exact size is 11 ft. 2 in. by 7 ft. 5 in.
The Khamseh (which means 5 in Arabic) — formed in the 19th century as a counterbalance to the Qashqai. The rugs of all of these tribes are quite similar in many respects.
The Qashqai are a confederation of 5 distinct tribal groups who banded together in a political alliance in the 19th century.
