Description
Rust and black geometric tribal runner with many birds and scattered mountain goats.
Woven in a village in the Meshgin Shahr region of northwest Iran or perhaps across the border in the former Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan. (The province within NW Iran is also named Azerbaijan, complicating the picture.)
Azeri weavers predominate in the region, and the traditional motifs are shared with Azerbaijan and the Shirvan carpet production area. These are typically known as Meshkin carpets.
Overall excellent condition with some wear on the wool fringes on one end (shown in CU photo). The side cords are in very good shape.
Vintage rug from the 1970s. (The leather strips on the bottom, shown in the last photo, are sometimes added by oriental rug galleries to runners.)
Plush 100% natural wool, including warp and weft. Exact size is 13 ft. 2 in. by 3 ft.
Shipping is $34 within continental U.S.
