Old Kurdish tribal runner woven in Persia by the Kolyai tribe.
The rug is in very good condition with a little color pickup in one small area.
This is a very well woven village carpet and can be used in a high foot traffic area of the home.
Overall, the colors are primarily red, tan, brown, blue — with black in the border.
The primary motif is a repeating hexagonal mesh field. This brown lace pattern is a traditional design that look like a honeycomb. Antique Kolyai rugs often show the same motif.
Kurdish weavers have kept their traditions, producing high quality tribal pieces that are distinctive, durable, and beautiful.
Wool pile on cotton warp and weft. 1960s. The size is 12 ft. 1 in. by 4 ft. 8 in.
