Remarkably bold and cheerful tribal rug from the Shiraz region of Southwest Iran.
Vivacious colors include purple, magenta, red, orange, white and blue.
Persian weavers have been crafting these amazing textiles for centuries — if not thousands of years.
These kinds of geometric carpets are most commonly crafted in the Shiraz mountainous areas by tribal groups.
The carpet showcases moderate tribal abrash (variegation in colors due to changes in the wool dye batch) — in the purple and red field. This technique creates a painterly effect.
Excellent overall condition with some scattered minor wear on the wool pile. The rug can be used in a high foot traffic area of the home.
Thick soft natural wool pile. No holes or weakened areas. Originating in a nomadic tradition, these rugs are more supple than many village rugs that use cotton for the structure.
Woven from 100% natural wool — including the warp and weft.
Photo with Morgan silver dollar displays the back of the rug.
