Description

Old vintage tribal rug from the area of the Zagros Mountains in Southwest Iran.

The carpets from the Shiraz region are woven based on nomadic traditions, featuring bold geometric designs and strong contrasting colors. Traditionally, they are woven from 100% natural wool (no cotton).

The overall condition is good with a some normal wear on the wool pile. Some dye diffusion of the orange into the un-dyed white wool occurred many years ago when it was washed. There is a small ink spot the size of a quarter in the border.

There are no holes or weak spots, and the fringes and side cords are in good shape.

The colors include brick red, indigo blue, orange, sage green, and white. Aside from the memling gul medallions there are stylized flowers and large boteh figures in the field.

The rug is 100% natural wool. Woven by a member of the Qashqai or Khamseh confederations.

Amazing tribal art for your floor.

Exact size is 6 ft. 7 in. by 4 ft. 1960s.

The photo with the Morgan silver dollar shows the backside of the rug.

Shipping is only $23 within the continental U.S.
