Vibrant Turkish Crimson and Blue Taspinar Rug.

Description

Strikingly bold Anatolian village rug from the Taspinar region of central Turkey.

Rich saturated colors including red, blue, olive green, gold, and white.

These bold geometric rugs are traditionally woven as wedding dowries and family centerpieces.

Very good condition with only minor wear on the wool pile. The fringes and side cords are in very good shape with a bit of wear on the fringes here and there.

The exact size is 10 ft. by 5 ft. 10 in. 1950s.

Last photo with Morgan silver dollar shows the backside of the carpet.

Soft and supple 100% natural wool pile. Out of my personal collection of antique and vintage carpets.

Taspinar is located in central Turkey just south of the world famous region of Cappadocia– one of Turkey’s most touted tourist destinations. It is also located fairly close to Konya, which has been a source of illustrious Turkish carpets for several centuries.

This area in Anatolia produces a high quality wool with a silky feel. The rich lanolin in the wool is what makes the rug feel as if it was woven from silk.

The design combines bold geometric elements with displays of plants and foliage.

Shipping is $43 within the continental U.S.
