Description
Elegant vintage Tabatabai Tabriz carpet from northern Persia.
Medallion and floral motif with deep indigo blues, pastels, light greens and apricot in the range of colors.
Carpet has some abrash — which is rare in area rugs — much more common in village rugs. Abrash is a shift in colors when the weaver changes wool dye batches to weave in slightly color. The weaver is painting in wool! You can see the abrash in the center medallion.
Tabriz carpets can display many different unique designs but most of the time the pattern in a Tabatabaie rug is filled with dense floral motifs, including large palmettes, vases, foliage, and small flowers. Garden elements are scattered into the weaving.
The quality is exceptional in Tabatabai Tabriz handmade carpets.
Excellent overall condition with some minor wear. Very elegant and cheerful rug!
This is a very solid and rigid rug that can be used anywhere in a home — and even under a table.
Wool pile on cotton warp and weft. The cotton fringes and side cords are in fantastic condition.
