Kelardasht is a town of 11,000 people in the Mazanderan province near Roodbarak. Although the area is mountainous, it is just to the south of the Caspian Sea. Ethnographically, the area is populated by an enclave of Northern Kurds.

Based on the rugs and the cluster of Northern Kurds around Kelardascht, some experts believe that these people are refugees pushed out of the Caucasus in the 19th and early 20th century, and may have originated near Karabakh. Their designs share some elements with Caucasian carpets.

Shipping is $99 within continental U.S. Or possible free pickup in  East Bay Area or Nor Cal. (If you plan to pick up the rug, contact me to arrange it;  you can pay in person rather than through the PayPal cart.)
