Mesmerizing old vintage rug with blue and mint medallions on a red magenta field.

Possibly too bold for some–but the colors are really electrifying if you want to enliven a living space. Colors approach a psychedelic intensity.

Very good condition with even minor wear to the pile. Pile was clipped short by the weaver to show off the triple medallion Kazak motif and prominent floral borders. 100% natural wool. 1960s. Most likely from Karabakh (also Karabagh) region or Soviet Dagestan. Or possibly eastern Anatolia.

This is a rug that would make a statement in any room although not a perfect match for a paisley sofa and floral wallpaper. And not for the faint of heart. Exact size is 8 ft. 9 in. by 6 ft. 3 in.

Price is $749. Shipping is $43 or free pickup is a possible option.

Most of the Shahsavan tribe lives in northwest Iran near the city of Ardabil and Dashteh Moghan. However, dispersed groups of Shahsavan also live in central Iran near Saveh, Karmsar, and Varamin. In Farsi, Shahsavan means “those who love the Shah”. This was a 17th century title bestowed on warriors from these tribes for their loyalty and diligence in defending the northern borders of Persia.

As well as beautiful geometric carpets, the Shahsavan weavers produce many functional pieces such as saddle bags, mafrash bags, and animal covers. These textiles are often woven in the kilim and soumak style.

This stunning Shahsavan geometric carpet was probably woven near Saveh, which is about 80 kilometers south of Tehran. The color palette and design elements share much in common with Shahsavan rugs from the more northern regions around Ardabil.

Wool pile woven onto cotton warp. Some very minor wear. Soft and harmonious colors including salmon, ivory, blue and green. A large and impressive room size tribal textile. Exact size is 10 ft. 6 in. by 6 ft. 7 in.

Price is $775. Shipping is $55 or free pickup is an option in this area.

SOLD — Persian Geometric Village Rug — 12 ft. 7 in. by 5 ft. 3 in. — $695

Vivid geometric tribal rug with red, blue, green, ivory, orange and black in a dazzling array around triple medallions. Expansive size at 12 ft. 7 in. by 5 ft. 3 in. — and 100 % natural wool. North Persian Kurdish or possibly Azerbaijan. Side cord is more like a Heriz or Sarab but the rug is all wool, and generally weavers use cotton for the warp in those areas. 1960s.

Some light wear and color abrash (variegation in color due to different dye batches). Faint fugitive dye in parts of the fringe. Fairly heavy rug but a softer weave so might not be perfect for a high foot traffic area. A simple mesh pad would help to hold it in place on slippery wood or tile floors. Fantastic village rug — out of my personal collection. Mind altering art for your floor!

Price is $695.     Shipping is $49 with free pickup an option.
