Striking geometric tribal rug from the Shiraz region of Southwest Iran.
Vibrant colors including red, black, blue and green. This Shirazi carpet has a Southwestern and Navajo overall look.
Persian weavers have been crafting these amazing carpets in villages for centuries.
This geometric motif is very common around the city of Shiraz and the surrounding Zagros Mountains; they are typically woven by tribal groups such as the Qashqai and Khamseh Federation.
Excellent overall condition with very little signs of wear on the wool pile.
No holes or weakened areas. Very solid rug.

The Qashqai are a confederation of 5 distinct tribal groups who banded together in a political alliance in the 19th century.
Another confederation — the Khamseh (which means 5 in Arabic) — formed in the 19th century as a counterbalance to the Qashqai. The rugs of all of these tribes are quite similar in many respects.
