Description
Traditional vintage handwoven floral carpet from Persia. Softened reds, ceramic tile blue and white colors.
These are Sarouk – Mahal type Persian rugs. The changes in colors are not fading — this is abrash where the weaver uses different tones of colors to paint in wool. Lovely effect.
Vivid floral medallion motif, one of the most common and timeless of the Persian designs.
Extensive village abrash, (changes in dye color across a spectrum of related colors). Abrash creates a painterly effect quite distinct from the formal monochromatic urban workshop carpets of Iran
The cotton fringes and side cords are in excellent shape.
Excellent condition! Classic elegant floral and botanical motif.
Natural wool pile on cotton warp and weft. 1960s – 1970s. The rug is solid and can be used in a high foot traffic area such as a hall or near an entrance.
