Fantastic handwoven village pictorial carpet from Anatolia – Turkey from 100% natural wool.
Wonderful motif with pink horses, deer, goats.
Men in orange trousers pointing to a mysterious building … hmmm perhaps Blue Mosque or Aya Sofya – Hagia Sophia ??
This rug is out of a European estate. Probably woven in eastern Turkey around Kars and Lake Van. Possibly from a Kurdish village in that region. This area borders the Caucasus mountain nations of Armenia and Georgia.
I can ship most of the rugs or offer arrangements for pickup.
Overall condition is excellent for the age. It does have some wear and loss on the wool fringes. Minor wear on the interior wool pile.
100% natural wool. Warp and weft is also wool. Turkish – Anatolian village rug.
Exact size is 6 ft. 8 in. by 4 ft. 7 in.
