Eye-catching vintage geometric village runner from the Sarabi or Meshkin region in Northwest Iran. This borders Azerbaijan and the Shirvan carpet production region.
Unusual motif with repeating big horn sheep, deer or ram icons all over the rug. Although from the same region as typical Sarabi runners, this one is unique.
Sarabi rugs are similar to Meshkin runners although they typically use different field colors with Meshkin rugs opting for reds and dark blues versus tans for the Sarabi.
This runner is solid — ideal for high foot traffic area of the home.
Excellent overall condition with only very, very minor wear. There is some orange pickup in a small area, probably from a wash, but it is not distracting or a major flaw in my opinion. (Shown from several angles.)
Last photo with silver dollar shows the backside. Possible signature in one medallion although hard to discern.
Sarab and Meshkin rugs are extremely well made and very durable. Exact size is 9 ft. 2 in. by 3 ft. 6 in.
Wool woven onto cotton warp. 1960s.
Shipping will be $34 within the continental U.S. — or free pickup in Tucson.
