Description
This is a dazzling Persian bird motif runner from northwest Iran.
Most likely woven in a village in the Rudbar district (also Roodbar) of mountainous northern Iran. It features a dark blue field with birds and multiple medallions.
Expertly crafted with fine wool on cotton warp. Additional colors include red, dark rust red, greens, light blue, ivory – white, and orange.
Excellent overall condition with very little signs of wear. A small hardly noticeable professional repair on the edge. 1970s.
Out of my personal collection. A wonderful tribal work of art.
Rudbar means ‘by the river’ in Farsi. The Sepid river runs through the city of Rudbar.
Exact size is 9 ft. 6 in. by 3 ft. 10 in. Natural wool woven onto natural cotton warp and weft.
