Description
Antique handwoven village carpet from west Persia. Woven by the tribal Bakhtiari.
Fabulous natural colors including green, indigo, reds and yellows. One synthetic orange that was used in the early 20th century. The rug is roughly a 100 years old.
Traditional medallion and floral motif. Very uncommon use of repeating roses in the border design!
Cypress trees, foliage and flowers are common in these Persian Bakhtiari carpets.
Overall condition is excellent for the age with some wear on the pile and side cords. No holes or weak areas. The rug is very durable despite the age and commensurate wear.
This is a solid rug and can be placed in a high foot traffic area of the home.
