Scintillating village carpet from the Josheghan region of central Iran. Similar rugs also originate in the nearby village of Maymeh.

Vivid diamonds and stylized flowers with a central medallion..

Minor village abrash, (changes in dye color across a spectrum of related colors). Abrash creates a painterly effect quite distinct from the formal monochromatic urban workshop carpets of Iran

Wide range of colors including crimson, black, blue, green orange, brick red, yellow and turquoise.

The rug is solid and can be used in a high foot traffic area such as a hall or near an entrance.

Excellent overall condition with minimal wear. Fringes and side cords are in fine shape as well.

Josheghan rugs are extremely well made and very durable. They are from the Isfahan province, and dazzling and distinctive design is often copied outside of Persia.

Exact size is 8 ft. 2 in. by 5 ft.

Wool woven onto cotton warp. 1950s – 1960s.
