Description
Charming old vintage tribal rug from the Zagros Mountains of Southwest Iran.
Very good overall condition with a little minor wear on the wool pile. No holes or weakened areas.
This carpet is quite solid, ideal for a high foot traffic area of the home.
This geometric rug is woven with traditional Qashqai medallions, as well as stylized flowers and leaves.
Muted blue-gray deer appear in each corner of the carpet on the olive green field.
Red, olive green, gray, white, and blue are the primary colors. The rug has a wonderful mix of colors.
Woven from 100% natural wool — with cotton warp and weft.
Last photo with Morgan silver dollar displays the back of the rug.
The exact size is 10 ft. 4 in. by 5 ft. 7 in. 1940s – 1950s.
The Qashqai are a confederation of 5 distinct tribal groups who banded together in a political alliance in the 19th century. Another confederation — the Khamseh (number 5 in Arabic) — formed in the 19th century as a counterbalance to the Qashqai. The rugs of all of these tribes are quite similar in many respects.
