Description
Fabulous woven folk art with huge double deer designs on each end of the rug. Additionally, includes a box central medallion with various diamonds and stylized flowers on a purple field.
Rare to have the animals depicted in such huge sizes in these village rugs, a very dramatic and lively carpet! Deers stare straight out at the viewer.
Additional colors include green, white, black, rose and fuchsia.
The carpet was handwoven in the Hamadan district, which consists of a constellation of villages in central Iran that produce many of the finest tribal and geometric rugs in the world.
Condition is good with some scattered wear on the wool pile from normal use. The fringes and side cords are in fine condition.
Rug is out of square — so not a perfect rectangle. Lays flat. Small amount of dye leakage around the fuchsia in the border — likely occurred during a wash.
Last photo with the Morgan silver dollar shows the back of the rug.
Vivacious village rug with a unique and artistic medallion motif and saturated colors. This rug will enliven even the dullest old room.
This carpet could be placed in a high foot traffic area of the home with a pad to help keep it from slipping.
