Fabulous Bird border village rug!

Out of stock

Description

Bold traditional vintage geometric rug featuring reds, blues, greens, salmon, white and black colors.

The weaver included a wonderful bird motif border surrounding the medallions on the red field.

The rug was probably handwoven by Kurdish or Azeri weavers in the Hamadan district, a constellation of villages in central Iran that produces many of the finest tribal and geometric rugs in the world.

Condition is excellent for the age with a small amount of wear on the wool pile. The fringes and side cords are in fine condition.

There are no holes or weakened areas, and this carpet can be used in a high foot traffic area of the house, including near an entrance.

The rug seems to be dated but the numbers appear garbled and don’t yield a plausible date in the Persian calendar. Most likely 1960s – 1970s is the true age.

Last photo shows the back of the rug.

The exact size is 8 ft. 10 in. by 3 ft. Natural wool pile on cotton warp.

Shipping will be $34 within the continental U.S. Or free pickup in Tucson, Arizona.
