Beautiful indigo, salmon and green Persian Malayer carpet!

Description

Lovely antique Persian Malayer runner with indigo field color; additional colors include green, salmon, white, brick red, light blue, sage, and a yellow. Dyes appear all or mostly vegetable and natural.

The design is a traditional floral motif surrounding a large central medallion.

I listed a second similar village runner from the same area of Iran but woven on a brick red field.

Condition is very good for an antique carpet of this vintage rug with only small areas of minor wear on the wool pile. The side cords and fringes are in fine shape.

Natural wool on natural cotton. 1930s – 1950s.

Exact size is 9 ft. by 3 ft. 9 in. Last photo with Morgan silver dollar shows the backside of the carpet.

Rugs from the Malayer region display excellent variety and quality, and are highly regarded by collectors. Malayer (also Malayir) is south of Hamadan and west of Arak in central Iran. These rugs share much with Sarouk rugs but they are more diverse and imaginative.

Shipping will be $43 within continental U.S. — or free pickup in Tucson.
