Scintillating vintage tribal geometric rug from the Mazlaghan area in the Hamadan Province of central Persia. I have one other listed from this village, and this one is more typical in regards to colors.
The weavers in this locale have been weaving this motif going back into the 19th century.
Excellent vintage condition with only minor scattered signs of wool pile wear. Side cords and fringes are in fine shape.
Wool woven onto cotton warp and weft.
Exact size is 6 ft. 9 in. by 4 ft. 2 in. 1960s.
Last photo with Morgan silver dollar shows the backside of the rug.
The overall design looks like a lightening bolt against a night sky, and is one of the most eye-catching of all tribal rug designs.
