Description
This is a dazzling Persian bird motif rug from northwest Iran.
Most likely woven in a village in the Rudbar district (also Roodbar) of mountainous northern Iran. It features primary black and white field colors with an array of birds and triple medallions.
The motif also includes tree-of-life icons and double-headed goats.
Expertly crafted with fine wool on cotton warp. Additional colors include red, rust, green, light blue, yellow, and orange.
Excellent overall condition with very little signs of wear. 1970s.
The carpet does seem a little out of square, which is fairly common with village rugs after a couple of decades. Visible in the first photo.
Wonderful tribal art for your floor!
Rudbar means ‘by the river’ in Farsi. The Sepid river runs through the city of Rudbar.
Exact size is 5 ft. 1 in. by 3 ft. 4 in. Natural wool woven onto natural cotton warp and weft.
Shipping will be $23 in the continental U.S.
