Description

Antique handwoven Mazlaghan geometric tribal rug from central Persia.

Traditional Mazlaghan red lightning diamond shield — but with unusual stylized flowers inside the medallion and across the field.

The flowers are inspired by charming ‘Gol Farang’ rugs, which were in turn influenced by 19th century French tapestries.

Indigo blue, brick reds, and salmon colors.

Traditional and powerful medallion motif on a dark field. The rug has been professionally ‘end-stopped’ to protect the fringe and weft. You can the stitching in the last photo showing the back of the carpet.

Natural wool woven onto natural cotton by village weavers. Out of a German estate.

Eye-catching combination of both abstract geometric and natural imagery.

Excellent condition for the age with even wear but no holes or weak areas. 1940s – 1950s

The fringes and side cords are in great shape.

Exact size is 6 ft. 10 in. by 4 ft. 7 in.

Last photo with the antique silver coins shows the back of the rug.
