Beautiful vintage blue and red handwoven Persian Kashan medallion rug from central Iran.
Colors include navy blue, dark red, turquoise, green, salmon or pink, white cream, olive, gray, and gold. Colors are shown best in the closeup photographs.
The rug is in excellent overall condition with only very minimal signs of wear on the wool pile.
The cotton fringes and side cords are in great shape. Absolutely no odors, holes or weak spots in the rug that would compromise its use.
It’s a finely knotted short pile carpet but can be used in a high foot traffic area of the home or under a table and chairs.
This color combination is quite traditional in Kashan carpets.

This style of Persian carpet is often known as Shah Abbas since this was the period (early 17th century) that these types of floral rugs reached a pinnacle of elegance and cachet. Many were exported to Europe, broadcasting the prestige of the Persian carpet to the world.
